Another year in the rear view mirror, now what? I have decided against making any new years resolutions, the failure rate in the past would indicate they are a waste of time. Plus, I'd like to think that we are on a constant path of improvement and reevaluation. Although I have seen evidence lately that some folks are actually moving backwards in their view points . Oh well, maybe enlightenment isn't for everyone!
I recently attended the South Florida Folk Festival, where my compadre Bob Bronar and I played a rousing set to a very enthusiastic audience. The Festival is held every January, usually on MLK day week end, in Fort Lauderdale. It's the perfect place to be in January. The highlight of the festival is the singer/songwriter competition. While I didn't enter this year, I have been fortunate enough to be a finalist several times in the past. My good friends Lauren Heintz and Bear & Robert (Cindy Bear and Franc Robert) were finalists this year. And Lauren was one of the three winners in the competition. If you haven't checked her out, you should. Her guitar playing and song writing talents are amazing. I've recently been dabbling in the video field thanks to my daughter. She is an awesome photographer who has had many of her shoots featured in national magazines. I fear my learning curve may push her over the edge. But there's nothing better than working with someone who will tell you when you're being a dork. Anyone looking for a great photographer for an event would be wise to check her out. Vitalic Photo. So thanks to her encouragement, I recently recorded a gig for a local band who was performing at the Sebastian Fine Art Festival in our humble little town. The Sleeping Dogz, They were beyond great, once I get done with the project I'll post some of it for you folks to see. They really are an excellent group, should you ever see they're playing in your area, don't miss them! Well I think I've said enough for this installment. I've got a few exciting things in the works and I'll report back on them if I don't go down in flames. Happy New Year! Remember, Keep an open mind and be kind! Al
